This introduced Eurasian species is reported primarily from the Western US (Montana, Wyoming, Colorada, Utah, Nevada, Idaho, California, Oregon and Washington) (USDA 2009). It is also reported from Pennsylvania. In Washington, the northernmost record is from Spokane County (Bjork
et al. 2008). In 2008, it was reported for British Columbia by Bjork
et al. (2008), from the east shore of Osoyoos Lake. These authors indicate that "it competes with several rare native species at the Osoyoos Lake mudflats and may be a factor in the conservation of those species".
